Health Coaching Services
Our Discovery Session takes a more of a "Counseling" approach to weight management and health.
But our Health Coaching functions differently.
 
When we counsel clients for change, we are typically looking at past habits and developing solutions that make changes "now". Clients are looking for changes that will free them of their immediate "pain" such as learning how to remove previous nutritional habits.
 
But Health Coaching works completely differently in that I help my clients to look forward to the future and to focus on the improvements and changes that they want to see in their lives.  Rather than healing and correcting past habits, which can be the first step, health coaching looks at how you can improve your lifestyle habits to reach your future health goals.
 
Quite often when I have "counseled" clients, they then enlist my "coaching" services, once they have made sustainable changes to those past dietary habits.
 
But often is the case with my Health Coaching clients, is that they have made some changes already, and are managing to sustain some of their habits, but they need help in formulating a long term plan, they might have medical and/or emotional health struggles, and need direction and accountability.
 
So "Counseling" looks at your past habits and creates solutions for the here and now.
Whereas "Coaching" looks at the future and is a process of developing life long health strategies.
 
And when it comes to Heath Coaching, formulating strategies and not meal plans really comes into its' own as the rigidity of a meal plan should not be the basis of your future plans, so we develop strategies together and adjust as needed, because life can get in the way, and circumstances change, so we need to be flexible and ready to change as needed.
 
My Health Coaching services are formulated as an initial 12 week program.
Primarily because, sometimes it can take several weeks to determine your direction and what those goals are going to be.
And even in those short 12 weeks, we may have to adjust our direction several times.
At the end of the 12 weeks, we discuss your continued programming, reviewing how far you have come, and if clear future strategies are in place that you feel able to sustain.
My expertise with clients who are cancer patients, type 2 diabetics, heart disease clients and those with emotional eating disorders sees me working with clients sometimes for multiple years as we rebuild physical and emotional health, but sometimes 12 weeks is sufficient, And so that is why at the end of the initial 12 weeks, we sit down to revisit your future goals as it might be that once a month appointments will keep you focused.
